Today, I am so happy to announce the launch of our new home fragrance line with our first candle -- Sunshine Limone.  Since back in the Stone Age of my early 20s, I have wanted to open a candle store.  I used to spend hours going to different shops in downtown Manhattan buying candles and contemplating my future enterprise.  I never opened that candle store.  I was fortunate enough , however, to work with two different wonderful beauty companies that taught me about fragrance development, retailing and product development.  At The Body Shop, I worked with a dynamic group of people lead by the incredible Anita Roddick, and at International Flavors & Fragrances, the world's largest perfumery and flavor house, I learned the true magic of fragrance.  Those years taught me the importance of the story behind the product (provenance), retailing as theater, and the magic and majesty,(yes majesty!) that goes into the creation of every single fragrance.
When I decided to open The Perfect Provenance, my first idea for our private label products was to develop a line of candles that I would want to have in my home,  and to create scents that meant something to me personally.  Our first candle -- Sunshine Limone -- literally means Lemon Sunshine in Italian  -- a homage to my Italian roots, with Jasmine, Peach, Bergamot, and Driftwood notes that take me right back to my California childhood.  Pure heaven for me.  I hope you will find it as uplifting and beautiful as I do. Fragrance and scent have the unique ability to transport you to another place and time, to shape your memories and moods, this scent is the perfect choice for our Smile Collection.
Because provenance matters so much to me, I had the pleasure of working with my dear friend and fragrance consultant, Maryellen Lapsansky (my former PR client at The Fragrance Foundation) on the development of our line (yes there are more to come shortly!).  We have created scents we can be proud of from start to finish. We worked with the wonderful team at Symrise perfumery led by Rhona Stokels (a former colleague at IFF and Symrise a former PR client of my firm) to bring the scent vision to life.
Michael Bishop at DPM Fragrances in Mississippi with our recycled glass waiting to be poured.  Michael has been with DPM for more than 20 years and his smile is irresistible!
I very much wanted these candles made in America.  Together, Maryellen and I, discovered the incredible team at DPM Fragrances, based in Starksville, Mississippi who employ more than 100 people. They hand poured each of our natural wax candles with love (one of the last companies to still do this). They also created the packaging which is truly something special -- beautiful recycled glass, with wax seal,  luxurious wooden boxes, and our logo burned on the top of each box  And finally, Case Study Brands, led creatively by my friend Sara Allard who created our simple but elegant logo and printed package design.
  • About Sunshine Limone: Sheer bliss awaits with this heavenly scent. Rays of sparkling bergamot and Italian lemon shine through billowy jasmine and peach blossom petals supported by a warm woody back kissed with touches of skin musk.   Sunshine Limone means lemon sunshine in Italian and I love the idea of getting a kiss of sunshine from this fragrance.  I wanted this Smile Collection product to give people true happiness in their home and I hope they feel that through this fresh, vibrant scent

Because Sunshine Limone is a Smile Collection product, we wanted it to launch in time for World Smile Day which is tomorrow, October 2nd.  So spread the love, create memories and smiles, each Smile Collection product benefits our charity partner Operation Smile.  Have a great day! #smilemore

San Francisco Smiles, Matt Nathanson & A Greenwich Affair

Happy Monday!  Whew, what a great couple of weeks it has been.  I just returned from a quick trip to my hometown of San Francisco to serve as the Honorary Chair for the Operation Smile Gala for the second year in a row.  So many of my childhood, SF friends and family came out to celebrate with us, it was wonderful to have their support and love.  I was honored to join event chairs Shab Farzaneh & Shirin Aryanpour who founded this event and have done an incredible job galvanizing their friends and family to support Operation Smile.  I am extremely grateful to my friend Janet Lautenberger who served on the committee for the event, and hosted a beautiful pre-event cocktail party at her rooftop terrace (see the pic above) that has beautiful vistas of the city.  I am truly a lucky girl.  My whole family -- Mat and the boys, were able to join me this year at the event.   Anytime, I can spend time in San Francisco, visiting my mother who suffers from dementia, is something ,I can't express enough how valuable it is to me.
One of the great blessings of life getting involved with Operation Smile, has been all of the wonderful giving and kind people I have met.  I was so happy to co-present the Universal Smile Award with Sara Agah -- Sara's jewelry will be featured in our Pop Up -- she is also last year's Universal Smile Award honoree with husband Michael Franti, to musician Matt Nathanson for his work on behalf of the Starkey Hearing Foundation.  You can learn more about his work in my article about him on Huffington Post -- www.huffingtonpost.com/lisalori.  I have been a fan of his music for a long time and now, I am a fan of the human being.
If all that love wasn't enough, when I got off the plane I heard that the new issue of Greenwich Affair by Greenwich Magazine is on out featuring myself and two incredible women -- Jessica Mindich and Rachel Franco.  I am thrilled to have my #smilemore & Three Little Bears work for Operation Smile featured alongside their incredible projects -- the Caliber Collection & Greenwich Point Conservancy.  If you live in our area, pick it up if you get a chance.  A huge thanks to Cristin Maradino, editor of Greenwich Magazine for including me with these women.  So much to #smilemore about!  See you in 7 days for our Perfect Pop Up!  Lisa
