San Francisco Smiles, Matt Nathanson & A Greenwich Affair

San Francisco Smiles, Matt Nathanson & A Greenwich Affair

Happy Monday!  Whew, what a great couple of weeks it has been.  I just returned from a quick trip to my hometown of San Francisco to serve as the Honorary Chair for the Operation Smile Gala for the second year in a row.  So many of my childhood, SF friends and family came out to celebrate with us, it was wonderful to have their support and love.  I was honored to join event chairs Shab Farzaneh & Shirin Aryanpour who founded this event and have done an incredible job galvanizing their friends and family to support Operation Smile.  I am extremely grateful to my friend Janet Lautenberger who served on the committee for the event, and hosted a beautiful pre-event cocktail party at her rooftop terrace (see the pic above) that has beautiful vistas of the city.  I am truly a lucky girl.  My whole family -- Mat and the boys, were able to join me this year at the event.   Anytime, I can spend time in San Francisco, visiting my mother who suffers from dementia, is something ,I can't express enough how valuable it is to me.
One of the great blessings of life getting involved with Operation Smile, has been all of the wonderful giving and kind people I have met.  I was so happy to co-present the Universal Smile Award with Sara Agah -- Sara's jewelry will be featured in our Pop Up -- she is also last year's Universal Smile Award honoree with husband Michael Franti, to musician Matt Nathanson for his work on behalf of the Starkey Hearing Foundation.  You can learn more about his work in my article about him on Huffington Post -- www.huffingtonpost.com/lisalori.  I have been a fan of his music for a long time and now, I am a fan of the human being.
If all that love wasn't enough, when I got off the plane I heard that the new issue of Greenwich Affair by Greenwich Magazine is on out featuring myself and two incredible women -- Jessica Mindich and Rachel Franco.  I am thrilled to have my #smilemore & Three Little Bears work for Operation Smile featured alongside their incredible projects -- the Caliber Collection & Greenwich Point Conservancy.  If you live in our area, pick it up if you get a chance.  A huge thanks to Cristin Maradino, editor of Greenwich Magazine for including me with these women.  So much to #smilemore about!  See you in 7 days for our Perfect Pop Up!  Lisa

Everything is coming up...Radishes

Everything is coming up...Radishes

Did you know we always include something special when you buy something from The Perfect Provenance?  This month, it is radish seeds perfect for planting for great fall veggies.

Did you know?
  • That the word "radish" comes from the Latin “radix,” meaning “root,” and the Greek word "raphanus," which translates to "quickly appearing” may have to do with the fact that radishes are one of the fastest growing vegetables when they're planted from seed.
  • With a very low calorie count, less than 20 calories in an entire cup, radishes are a great way to add nutrients, fiber and tons of flavor to your meals.
  • The older, or longer it is allowed to grow, the spicier the radish.
  • Radishes lower body temperature and relieve inflammation from fevers. A good method of intake is drinking radish juice mixed with black salt, and since they act as good disinfectants, radishes also fight infections that can cause fever.
  • A half cup of radishes per day in a salad or just as a snack is nearly 15% of your daily intake of Vitamin-C
.
Mara Ossorio's radishes she planted recently.  Radishes are easy to grow and grow quickly.

Happy eating!!!

The Perfect P Blog

I am absolutely thrilled to be previewing just a sneak peek of our new company, and one of our new collections –The Smile Collection. At The Perfect Provenance, launching this fall in Greenwich, and online nationwide, we will invite you, the visitor, to experience something truly inspiring. Our goal is to bring the best of a museum experience through exhibitions, events and cultural experiences, and couple that with a pleasant and inviting retail environment. We hope our hand picked selection of items will entice and intrigue you to visit us again and again.  Whenever possible, we bring you the story behind the product -- the provenance of how and where our product was made.
For the Smile Collection, our organic tees are made by our partner Farm Fresh Clothing in Sonoma, California with water based inks. Sonoma is a place that is near and dear to my heart, where my husband and I celebrated our wedding reception and a place I return to again and again with my family. It is only fitting that this was the home of the tee shirt company we found to make our first products.
Our beautiful Belgium linen tote bags are made by Ankasa in India by some of the most incredible artisans in the business.  We are so proud to be working with them on our new line and look forward to showcasing our partner products as well as their line of beautiful items.
Giving back will be an integral part of our company’s mission and I hope we will shine a light on so many worthwhile organizations through partnerships on our exhibitions.  Personally, I am a passionate advocate for many causes, but most especially, for the disabled as my own children have faced numerous medical challenges. Our Smile Collection of products including those previewed on this site, is the next step in our commitment to supporting Operation Smile worldwide, a cause I care deeply about. I was introduced to Operation Smile through my children’s surgeon in 2010 and have been an avid supporter since then.
Last week in New York City on May 14, we previewed our new Smile Collection at the Operation Smile gala.  It was a night full of love, smiles and happiness.  The event was hosted by the beautiful Kate Walsh with special guest Eli Manning.  My boys are huge Giants fans and they loved meeting Eli.

Thank you for visiting our site and I hope you enjoy our first collection.

Cheers,

Lisa Lori

Did You Know? World Smile Day is October 2nd

According to Wikipedia -- World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday in the month of October every year. This year, World Smile Day is October 2nd, 2015.  The idea of World Smile Day was coined and initiated by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist fromWorcester, Massachusetts. The World's first World Smile Day was held in the year 1999 and has been held annually since.
After Harvey died in 2001, the "Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation" was created to honour his name and memory. The slogan of the Smile Foundation is "improving this world, one smile at a time." The Foundation continues as the official sponsor of World Smile Day each year.
The message of the World Smile Day is "Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile."  So to celebrate, The Perfect Provenance will offer $5 OFF any order from now until October 3rd when you use the code #SMILEMORE at checkout!!!
